Srimangal (Bengali: শ্রীমঙ্গল) is an Upazila of Maulvibazar District in the Division of Sylhet, Bangladesh.
Geography
Srimangal is located at 24°18′30″N 91°44′00″E / 24.3083°N 91.7333°E / 24.3083; 91.7333. It has 43,952 units of house hold and total area 450.74 km².
Demographics
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Srimangal has a population of 230,889. Males constitute 51.76% of the total population, and females 48.24%. This Upazila's 18+ population is 124,778. Srimangal has an average literacy rate of 29.8% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. Hindus constitute around 45% of the total population making up over one lakh, making it a city with one of the highest concentration of Hindus in Bangladesh

If you want to go to Srimangal from Dhaka, you may follow the instructions given below. First you go to Kalabagan, Dhanmondi, Dhaka & buy a bus ticket from Dhaka to Srimangal (Please remember, buses are available very early in the morning. After 9:30am you will not find any bus from Dhaka to Srimangal). When you reach Srimongal, you will be dropped at Dhaka bus stand. You can rent a rickswa for going Choumohona at Srimangal. Actually Choumohona is the center of Srimangal town. There you will find a hotel named 'Hotel United'. The hotel is not bad for living 2 or 3 days. You will find there AC & Non-AC rooms at a cheap rate [120tk (Non-AC) to 800tk (AC)]. I was at that hotel for 7 days and their services made me satisfied. After that you can go to Nilkantha Tea stall at Ramnagar. For reaching that place please rent a rickswa from Choumohona to Kalighat (rent 10tk-12tk, don't pay more these). Then rent another rickswa from Kalighat to Ramnagar (Rent 10tk-12tk, don't pay more these.). One may ask, why I suggested rent rickswa for two times. The reason is, if you rent direct then you have to pay 25-30tk.
